III. Wide Processing Range
Mainly processes various cylindrical holes: through holes, holes with axial and radial discontinuities, such as radial holes or grooves, keyway holes, spline holes, blind holes, multi-step holes, etc. Additionally, with a dedicated honing head, conical holes and elliptical holes can also be processed, but this is generally not used due to the complex structure of the honing head. External honing tools can be used to hone cylinders, but the amount of material removed is much less than that of internal honing. Honing can process any material; the application of diamond and cubic boron nitride abrasives further expands the application range of honing and greatly improves the efficiency of honing.
IV. Low Cutting Allowance
To achieve the accuracy required by the drawing, honing is the processing method with the lowest material removal among all processing methods. In honing, the honing tool uses the workpiece as a guide to remove excess material and achieve the required accuracy. During honing, the honing tool first hones the areas of the workpiece requiring the largest amount of material to be removed, and then gradually hones to the areas requiring the smallest amount to be removed.
V. Strong Hole Correction Capability
Due to deficiencies in other processing techniques, some machining defects may occur during the machining process. These include: out-of-roundness, flared holes, corrugated holes, small dimensions, drum-shaped holes, taper, boring tool marks, reaming marks, rainbow-like patterns, hole deviation, and surface roughness.
